Integrating online math for kindergarten

I picked the math corner and I found a really cool website that has a place for students to do virtual math. The website walks students through math problems and lets the student work through each problem helping them understand what they are doing. I think it would be really helpful for kindergartners to have this integrated in either class work or homework where the parents can sit down with them at home and help them do homework. The website includes bar charts, teaching students to use graphs and charts for class or anything they might need them for.

I think this is important for a class because if students are having trouble in math they can go on this virtual website and learn what they may have missed or were having trouble with in class. The parents of the child could help them with whatever they are behind in, in class. But I think others would think this was interesting because they never know how they can help their students with class work or what they are having trouble with, so all the parents would have to do is just jump on the computer and go to that website and it will be fun for the student, it has building blocks and everything.

  1. Britny, Its funny that you picked this particular website to talk about because while you’re talking about incorporating it into a kindergarten class, last night while I was trying to do my Math homework I was having issues figuring out one of the problems and I just went on to you tube and found a video that helped me get the answer. It amazes me what technology can do for us today. By the way my son loves playing math games on the computer; they don’t even realize they are learning while they play.

  2. That's an interseting website. I know math is a difficult subject for a lot of people. I myself have had my share of struggles in the math arena. Extra help at home is probably going to be critical to the success of future students as technology continues to advance and expectations rise in math related fields.
